Which course is right for me?
Looking for a great gift for the coffee lover in your life? A Global Coffee School course is the best place to start!
But, with four courses to choose from, you may be wondering which one to go for. Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect from each course…

1. The Fundamentals

What is it?
Led by Gwilym Davies (one of the world’s best baristas and founder of Prufrock Coffee in London), this 8-week course covers the A-Z of making great coffee at home through a combo of theory and practice.

Who’s it for?
Beginners looking to up their at-home coffee game. If you’ve ever wanted to know (but been too shy to ask!) why your local barista does X, or why something tastes of Y, then this is the course for you.

What will you learn?
Starting at the beginning, you’ll learn all about the craft of coffee: cupping and tasting, the French press, home pour over methods (including a V60 masterclass), espresso, latte art, plant-based drinks, and coffee cocktails.

2. Advanced Vegan Coffee Craft

What is it?
Led by Will Pitts (UK Latte Art and Coffee in Good Spirits Champion), this is a 3-week on everything you need to know when making and creating coffee drinks with plant-based products. Will uses the Alpro Barista Range, which includes soya, almond, gluten-free oat, and coconut.

Who’s it for?
The at-home coffee maker looking to advance their plant-based coffee practice and techniques.

What will you learn?
To make perfect micro foam, pour and create latte art, explore flavour pairings with coffee, and get creative with plant-based coffee mocktails and drink design.

3. Advanced Sensory

What is it?
Led by Freda Yuan (three-time UK Cup Tasters champion, international barista competition judge, and author of ‘Sip ‘n’ Slurp: A guide to expert coffee tasting’), this is a 4-week course on sensory theory in coffee and beyond.

Who’s it for?
The at-home coffee maker looking to advance their coffee and broader tasting skills.

What will you learn?
You’ll get a detailed introduction to the five senses, five basic tastes, and key attributes of fragrance, aroma, flavour, acidity, mouthfeel, aftertaste, and balance. Armed with the knowledge of how to assess coffee, you’ll embark on an advanced home cupping and coffee tasting.

4. Slayer on the Roof

What is it?
Led by Rob Ward and Dan Fellows (aka team Slayer UK), this FREE 4-week course looks at each of the unique Slayer espresso machines, and gives you an insight into the foundations of Slayer.

Who’s it for?
Anyone looking to become more familiar with the Slayer range (including the Slayer Steam EP and the Slayer Steam LP).

What will you learn?
Explore the features of each Slayer machine, discover the different ways the machines extract coffee, and understand how baristas can control extractions to get the very best out of the machines in different settings.
